Over Two Decades With a Single Focus on Single-Level Homes
Meet Encore, your single-level leader
Jared and Shanna started Encore Single-Level Homes in 2001 with the idea that single-level homes
would appeal to empty-nesters who would then sell their traditional homes to young families looking for
affordable housing in the little town of Emmons where Jared and Shanna were school teachers at the time. This would keep locals in the community by building them single-level homes that were more manageable and provided housing longevity. In 2002, Jared and Shanna continued this mission to Albert Lea by starting the development known as Summer Dale.
Summer Dale is made up of twin homes and single-level patio homes. 58 single-level homes were built
in Summer Dale on Green Lea Golf Course.
Since the business started, not only has their team grown, but their family has as well. Drake was born
in 2000, Grace in 2004, Evie 2006, and Alec 2011. Besides real estate and teaching, Jared and Shanna
have also been performing musically in Northern Iowa and Southern Minnesota for decades. They slowly
began adding the kids to the family band as they were old enough. The entire family has been heavily
involved in the music at Crossroads Church in Albert Lea since its very first Sunday, and have also
enjoyed connecting with audiences at their sold-out Dawson Family Christmas Shows held at the Marion
Ross Theatre in Albert Lea.
Encore has and will continue to have a passion to help our clients acquire a single-level home, whether it
be buying an existing single-level home on the market or building a new single-level home. Jared can
also help clients with the sale of their current traditional home, helping coordinate details with the
move-in timing, etc.
Outside the Developments
In his little spare time left after teaching and helping empty nesters find or build their dream home, Jared likes to be involved in our community. One of his favorite traditions is putting up the Christmas lighting for the Summer Dale development. Another new adventure was growing sunflower fields for the community to enjoy. His family has enjoyed sharing their musical talents with the community at various community events. Hence the name, Encore Single-Level Homes.
The Home Team.
Jared and his wife Shanna and their four children reside just east of Manchester. Shanna teaches at Sibley Elementary along with directing music at Crossroads Evangelical Free Church here in Albert Lea. They have four children, Drake is in his first year of graduate school, Grace is in her first year at college, Evie is a 10th grader at Albert Lea High School and Alec is in 6th grade at Southwest Middle School.
